TREASURER | LaMarcus Thurman

LaMarcus Thurman is a recipient of the 2022 New Pittsburgh Courier’s Men of Excellence award. The award celebrates local African American men who inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service.  

Thurman has more than a decade of experience in the banking and mortgage industry. He has held roles at Fifth Third Bank, The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton, Citizens Bank, and in his most recent position as assistant vice president in the southwest region at Northwest Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and managerial economics from Allegheny College.

As the community lending arm for Howard Hanna, Thurman, through United Purpose Mortgage is responsible for building relationships, awareness, and education around community lending programs in underserved communities.

Thurman is also a board member of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh and a board member and treasurer of 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania and Crossroads Foundation. He also sits on two loan review committees at Urban Redevelopment Authority and East Liberty Development Inc.
